- The Wrong Mixture In The Gas/Oil Ratio. If the mixture of gas and oil ratio is not done well, the weed eater can’t easily run on choke off. Also, if the oil is dirty, this can be disastrous because the motors are really sensitive. Thus, be careful when adding oil to your weed eater.
- Make sure that you have to proper oil to gas ratio before using your Weed Eater. The general ratio is about 40:1 in terms of gas to oil. So, that means about 3.2 ounces of oil for every gallon of regular gas.

If your outdoor equipment has a 2-cycle engine, it runs on a mixture of oil and gas. Here’s how to properly mix the fuel.
Step 1: Determine the proper mixing ratio for your unit.
This ratio indicates how much fresh, regular unleaded gasoline (containing no more than 10% ethanol) to mix with how much oil. For all Remington 2-cycle products, the ratio is 40:1. This means you’ll want to add 3.2 oz of oil to every gallon of gasoline. (See table below.)
Your equipment may vary, so always check your manual for the correct ratio and detailed instructions.
Step 2: Mix fuel in the gas can.
Never in the fuel tank.
Step 3: Pour the mixed fuel into the tank.
You’re all set. Use the same fuel mix ratio and repeat the process next time you need to fuel up.
